Industry Cooperation
Silicon Mechanics works with customers to achieve their
sustainability goals and reduce power consumption, but we also
work with our industry as a whole. We are a member of The Green
Grid and a Charter Member of the Green IT Alliance. Our support
and participation in these organizations is just one more part
of our overall strategic approach to improving data center
efficiency and achieving true sustainability in computing.
Founded in 2007, The Green Grid
is a global consortium of companies dedicated to advancing energy
efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The
Green Grid does not endorse any
vendor-specific products or solutions, and will seek to provide
industry-wide recommendations on
best practices, metrics, and technologies that will improve overall
data center energy efficiencies.
The Green IT Alliance (GITA)
is a non-profit, public/private partnership devoted to accelerating
the integration of green, energy-efficient IT technologies into
sustainable building architecture. While many
organizations focus on either green building or green IT,
GITA is unique in that it encourages the integration of
technologies in both sectors. Rather than just industry
advocacy, GITA is primarily focused on implementing its
mission through real-world pilot implementation projects
and test laboratory research. The public/private partnership
integrates the resources and talents of private industry,
government, and university researchers.
